Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine

Vampire musician Michael Glass has attracted the attention of a big- time producer who wants to cut a demo and play some gigs-which means Michael will have to enter the human world. For this, he's been assigned escorts that include both a dangerous immortal as well as Michael's all-too-human friends. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell...
(Synopsis from Penguin)

This was another great installment in the Morganville Vampire series, Rachel Caine hasn't lost her special touch in this fun series. In fact I think they just keep getting better and better.
In this one Michael gets the opportunity to get out of Morganville and travel to Dallas to the recording studio with his friends Claire, Eve and Shane. Unfortunately they get stuck with Oliver as a chaperon which of course ends up complicating things for the group and ruins their fun. Just like the other previous books in the series the group of friends seem to attract trouble even when they're not out there trying to cause it. In this one we can blame Oliver for it when he takes a detour from the road trip and ends up in a town that looks like a ghost town but unfortunately it's not ghosts that are lurking in the corners.
If you haven't read it I won't spoil it for you by giving it away but you can expect that this one is full of fun, adventure, and bickering mainly from Shane. There's also plenty of romantic moments between your favorite characters, which always make me wonder if I were in that situation would I be kissing my boyfriend or screaming for my life like a little girl. The book starts at a fast paced from the very beginning and it's very easy to just read the whole thing in one sitting, there's not a dull moment in this one. The only thing is if you're a fan of Myrnin like me, you won't get to see a lot of him, since most of the book takes place outside of Morganville. I really didn't start missing him until Claire mentioned him, that shows how much fun I was having while reading it. Some other characters make an appearance and also redeem themselves from past major mistakes. I also really liked Oliver in this one, we get to see a different side of him. If you haven't read The Morganville Vampires series yet I definitely recommend it, you won't be disappointed! Pin It
